We at UKBL are frequently asked how to merge maps in Trainz.

So we have put together this tutorial to show your how to do it. For clear images I have used Trainz2006, although the process is identical in all versions from Trainz CE to Trainz Classics 3.

So here we go….

To start go into Surveyor and select the route that is going to be your base route. (For the purpose of this tutorial I am using British Midlands)

Once you have your route open go to the menu in the top left corner and select “Merge route”

This will then open a window with a list of available routes. (For this tutorial I’m using Electric Commuter

Once you’ve selected the route to be merged click the green tick/yes button. This will open a “Minimap” window showing the two routes over lapping each other.

You then use the Four arrows at the bottom of the map to align the two routes together. Once they are aligned click the green tick button

Your routes are now merged into one large route. As always with Trainz make sure you save at this point giving the new route a suitable new name.

And that is how to merge Routes in Trainz, Unfortunately there isn’t a way to equalize major height differences between maps and you are going to end up with joins like in the picture below.

I hope this tutorial is useful, If you have suggestions on any improvements feel free to let us know.
